Thaling Homestay Lahaul

Thaling Homestay is owned and managed by Mr. Satish and Mrs Sunita Kapoor. A farmer by profession and a native of village Tholang, also known as the village of IAS officers and famous in entire India. The village is known to have highest literacy rate amongst all villages in Lahaul & Spiti. 

Thaling Homestay was established in the year of 2020. a traditional home converted into a hospitality unit. The property is located on the foothills of western Himalayas and offers an awe inspiring panoramic view from all sides. With snow clad mountains on one side and river Chenab on the other. We started our homestay unit with a vision to offer tourists a great opportunity to explore traditional Lahauli culture, food and lifestyle.

The people of Lahaul lead a simple yet fulfilling life, and their lifestyle is closely connected to the natural environment. Agriculture and animal husbandry are the primary occupations of the locals, and they rely on the fertile soil and natural resources to sustain their livelihood.

The harsh weather conditions in Lahaul also influence the lifestyle of the people. Winters are long and harsh, and people spend most of their time indoors, engaged in activities like knitting, weaving, and cooking. In summers, the locals take to the fields, tending to their crops and livestock.

The culture of Lahaul is heavily influenced by Buddhism, and many of the local customs and traditions revolve around the religion. The locals are known for their hospitality and warmth, and visitors to the region can expect a warm welcome and a glimpse into the unique way of life in Lahaul.
